CAIR Coalition helps immigrant advocacy groups, immigration service providers and members of the private immigration bar from the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia work together to ensure that all immigrants are treated with fairness, dignity and respect for their human and civil rights. CAIR Coalition works to strengthen and support the work of our Coalition members by providing resources, training and networking opportunities.
CAIR Coalition holds monthly meetings where participants learn about the latest developments in immigration law and policies and work with other CAIR Coalition members to address issues of concern to the immigrant community. The meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month from 3-5 at the law offices of Fried Frank, 1001 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, 8th floor.
Member support includes:
- A listserv that provides immigration practitioners with a forum for posting specific questions about immigration law and procedures to fellow attorneys, and for receiving immigration news, updates and information about resources offered by CAIR Coalition members and partners.
- Monthly liaison meetings with the Arlington Asylum Office at which Coalition members submit questions concerning cases that are beyond the normal processing time or have other issues.
- Quarterly liaison meetings with the Washington District Office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Washington Field Office of Detention and Removal and the Executive Office of Immigration Review at which Coalition members’ policy questions are answered.
- A dedicated email where CAIR Coalition members can submit questions to the Washington District Office of U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services concerning cases that are beyond the normal processing time or have other issues that have not been resolved through a standard Info Pass appointment.
- An on-line library (to be completed) of brief, sample motions and other resources for attorneys representing detained immigrants.
