CAIR Coalition depends on the countless hours provided by our pro bono partners to serve the immigrants detained in Virginia and Maryland who face deportation, separation from their families, and exile from their communities.
Foundational to our program is the principle that a well-supported pro bono attorney is more likely to succeed for their client and to become a lifelong supporter of immigrants’ rights.

CAIR Coalition’s Practice Manual for Pro Bono Attorneys Representing Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Facing Deportation
Click here to download CAIR Coalition’s Practice Manual for Pro Bono Attorneys Representing Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Facing Deportation. Created in collaboration with the law firm Sidley Austin LLP, the manual provides an overview of the U.S. immigration laws and issues that practitioners typically face when representing this vulnerable population.
Complete with up-to-date case law and guidance, the manual also contains cutting edge practice pointers and tips for local practitioners. In particular, the manual provides extensive coverage of the four common forms of relief available to unaccompanied immigrant children: asylum for children who fear persecution in their home countries; U-Visas for victims of crimes; T-Visas for victims of human trafficking; and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status for children who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected.
