Mary Angevine

Legal Assistant

Mary joined CAIR Coalition as a legal assistant in September 2018. She conducts “Know Your Rights” presentations and legal screenings to detained children being held at Office of Refugee Resettlement contract facilities in Virginia. She also maintains CAIR Coalition’s database, runs data reports, and assists with post-release services.

Before her time at CAIR, Mary served as a tutor and mentor for unaccompanied minors for four years.  After forming invaluable relationships with her clients, Mary explored her interest for immigration law while interning at Community Legal Aid where she worked mostly with women and children. Mary later pursued her passion for social justice by working at Partners In Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating global health inequities. Mary hopes to use her experience working with the unaccompanied minor population, as well as her knowledge of social inequities and economic disparity, to respond to the mental health issues experienced by these children.

Mary received a B.A at the College of the Holy Cross where she studied Psychology and Latin American and Latino Studies.
